Paperweight Playmate

Fierceness and fashion all rolled into one and tiny enough to sit on your desk and remind you to be strong all day long and fight the fight against the tyranny of the office idiot you call boss.

This little treasure has been sitting in my shop too long, so today I thought I'd take another set of photos and really show off her sizzle and style. She used to be a little action figure of some kind and I gave her a much needed makeover, a few weapons and some crystals, beads and chains. She has one leg permanently attached to her base and you can reposition her other leg and her arms in lots of different poses. I think she's very happy with this new fierce look.

I love my digital camera

Classy Sassy

Classy Sassy by mystic2awesome

I love playing with my digital camera to see what weird photos will show up. This red bubble background was made at night using a glass paperweight, red and purple lights on colored fabrics and although I thought it would have been better if it were more clear, I think it came out fairly well. The Hair clip is one of my recycled jewelry reincarnations as is the beaded choker in the picture. I haven't had much time lately since I had been working "for the Man" or should I say "Uncle" Sam, that is with the Census Bureau and speaking of that, they sent me a notification reminding me that I am a sworn civil servant and I am not allowed to talk about my work with them.

Group pictures

GothB4play
Kaboodle
GothB4play by mystic2awesome

This is a group picture of some of my little treasures in my shop. I try to photograph my items so the photo itself looks art like using lots of color and textures. I use shiny fabrics because it drapes easily and you can swirl and shape the fabrics. Sometimes I put a sheer color fabric piece or scarf over other fabrics to change the total color or add shadows to the original color. Maybe using a white background could make some of my items stand out or make them more likely to sell but that would take all the fun out of the process and if your not having fun creating your just missing the whole point.

Garden Nymph...
Kaboodle
Garden Nymph... by mystic2awesome

For the first time in weeks I have a little time for my creative self, and it feels really, really good. I have spent this morning working on some new items for my shop as well as updating some photos for some of my "not yet adopted" treasures. My last adopted treasure went to California to live and just thinking about that new life in the sun and sand makes me smile.

Elemental Spirits

Are you a Fire Spirit, Water Spirit, Air Spirit or Earth Spirit or maybe you have a little of each. Maybe you have a combination Fire-Air Spirit, I don't know why not. Many personalities are made up of lots of different emotions and sometimes one balances the other.
Air Spirits:
Raven Brings the Light (Inuit)
The Seven Ravens (German)
The Crane Maidens (Chinese)
Daedalus and Icarus (Greek)
The Swan Maiden (Norwegian)

Pictured is my little Vegas Show Girl, or she could be anything you wish and she makes a great paperweight to watch over your personal space with a personality of more Fire than anything else. Maybe she could sit on your dresser to remind you to be fierce and strong with jewels to spare and a whip, because she IS the boss!

Driftwood

I hate having my picture taken but I decided that I would put a picture or two of myself on this blog. The shadow is me. The wooden thing is my friend, a huge tree trunk that was on the beach with a lot of other driftwood friends. David Sarnoff once said " A life that hasn't a definite plan is likely to become driftwood". I can only hope! I love driftwood, I love the shapes of driftwood, I love the feel of driftwood and I love that driftwood is free and recyclable. I am not sure that I even like David Sarnoff, but I get his meaning. As you can tell by the sand this huge piece of driftwood had a lot of attention and was very popular there at the beach. The first day was a beautiful sunny day and perfect for walks on the beach. I look really tall here but in fact I am only 5 foot and 1 and a half inches tall. I had a little problem with allergies, they get me every year about this time and of course something was blooming so I am still recuperating. I put a vacation sign in my etsy shop, which made it a white space here at my blog. I actually sold a couple of pieces (3) as soon as I got back so that was really fun for me. And I just listed two new pieces to my shops and I am getting back into work mode again. All in all it was a great little vacation, I hope your next Vacation is as much fun minus the allergies for you and yours.

Fang-tastic Books

http://fang-tasticbooks.blogspot.com/2010/01/free-custom-poster-giveaway-sponsored.html

This is a fun blog contest at fang-tasticbooks for a free custom poster, maybe I could have a group picture done with all my little dollies at once! Now that would be a fun poster, of course I'd have to separate some of them. You know how jealous some of the diva types can get. Somewhere above should be a link to take you there just click and there you are!

Strange I am

I just love taking photo's of strange things, calling it abstract Art and giving it a name and then showing it again from a different view or upside down and calling it something new.

Incantaroma Protection

I decided to retake some photos of one of my altered action figures, and I think they came out pretty well. I like trying out new textures and colors and the older photo had a pattern to it which makes a confusing picture especially if the item has lots of texture and patterns itself. Some people have different ideas on taking photos and suggest a white or bland background but I am having so much fun experimenting. I have used my night gowns, my blouses, scarves, pieces of fabrics and anything else I can get my hands on. Now I have turned into a photoholic and can't wait till the next new item gets made so I can photograph it.

Robot Drawing Auctiona by appledyl on Etsy

Speaking of robots I just received an email and a picture of a water color and ink drawing of a robot done by a fellow etsy artist, he is new to etsy and I thought very worthy of a little bit of promotion on my part. I am still unemployed and can't buy anything from him but I thought I could put him on my blog and his art is pretty cool so you may want to take a look at a new artist. Maybe send him some much deserved encouragement and mentoring.

The darkside of Lucid Dreaming

This is my brain while Lucid Dreaming of the dark side, sorry I guess I need to work a little more on that dark side part. You can take this photo and turn it upside down if you feel better that way, that's the great thing about abstract art! I have had my digital camera since my birthday in July and I have always loved creating things especially things with lots of color. My site at Etsy has a light side and a dark side. I think my avatar is a little on the dark side, but I just don't like getting my picture taken and I have never been too photo friendly. If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to leave them here, I am willing to learn and there are about a billion things I don't know about photo Art. I think I should go and explore my darker dark side now....where are my chains and I know my dagger is here somewhere....and I have a tattoo, it's on my hand it's an exact replica of a freckle only blueish green.
