Samhain
There are probably a thousand and one different rituals and celebrations that have been created for the coming Samhain when the living and the nonliving come together and cross that line which once separated them. However you celebrate pay close attention to showing respect for the ancestors who have come before us and always be mindful of their strength and power.

Memorial Marker
These are home made Memorial Grave Marker Photos and instructions for making your own using simple to buy items, glue and varnish. I started out wanting to buy Photograph Markers for my mother, and was appalled at the cost. I knew I could find a way to make my own at a much less expensive cost and I am very pleased at the outcome. Items needed:
1. Picture frames (weather resistant)
2. K-bob skewers (weather proofed or painted)
3. Outdoor adhesive glue
4. Varnish
Pretty simple isn't it, the skewers are great because they already come with a pointed end which makes the marker easily inserted into the ground at the grave site. These are also a wonderful activity for you and your child to respectfully honor a pet who has passed on.
1. Remove the cardboard lever which allows a picture frame to sit up if there is one.
2. Coat the photo with a sheer covering of varnish to weather proof it and let it dry.
3. Insert the photo into the picture frame.
4. Glue the skewer to the back of the frame.
5. Cover the back of the picture frame with varnish.
6. Cover the picture frame sides and front with varnish.
7. Seal the crack around the picture frame glass and the picture frame so not to allow water to seep inside and ruin the photo.
8. Glue a piece of weather proof backing over the back of the picture frame to hid the area where you glued the skewer to the frame.
9. Take special care when inserting the skewer into the ground. Grip the skewer not the picture frame itself to insert the marker into the ground. You may have to wet the ground first to enable the skewer to be inserted far enough to make it sturdy enough to stand in the wind.

Creative tears
My creative tears are flowing, I have been actually working for The Man. Uncle Sam. The Big Samster Census country count. Making much needed $$, but for that I pay in tears. I have had to put my creative side aside for a while and although I am grieving the loss, I am hoping to explode creatively when I return to my first love. Thank goodness Kaboodle lets me do a fast fifteen minute styleboard just to keep me from going totally insane. Hope you like it, the colors should give some a big energy rush!

Taking a Break
I am going to take a little break and head off to the ocean and nearby beaches of Oregon to revitalize my creativity, brain and my soul. I will be back very soon, just a short little trip so if you do not see a post for a couple of days that's just me taking a break and computers are not allowed. My brain is like scrambled eggs, you can't tell where one thought ends and another begins. My brain is simply put a gray mound of creative clutter. But I like my brain as it is and I wouldn't have it any other way. My workspace is the same as my brain in that it is a mound of creative clutter also. I have been told over and over that clutter is bad and organized space is good, maybe in the next life I'll be better at that.
I start a project and then when I have "crafters block" I put that particular item aside and play with something new and then I go back and work again on the first project. I do have some will power, I refuse to have more than ten projects going at any one time. Maybe I am a procrastinator or maybe I know that when an item is finished it will go on to be listed at my shop at etsy and will then find a new home and I will have to say goodbye to a precious friend. What do you do for "crafters block"?

Nymph
Is it warm enough yet to see a Wood Nymph around your garden spreading seedlings yet. Maybe not quite yet but with this in mind I thought I would create one of my own to put into my shop and maybe the seedlings of sales would start to grow. January has been a slow, slow month at the little shops. Of course I have been a little slow myself wanting to stay curled beneath the covers every morning just as long as I can. February will I believe be a month of growth and new seedlings from my mind to create. I hope your 2010 has been off to a better start and is becoming the year you have wished for.Nymph on Pedestal for Garden Room with Purple by mystic2awesome

Incantaroma Blog
Incantaroma Protection Dolls, one protects the front entrance to your home the other protects your back entrance. I put wooden beads in a bottle and added drops of special oils with protective essences and sealed it shut. We moved from a bigger town and bigger home to a smaller town and moved in with an elderly relative who was unable to care for themselves at the time. So some items were boxed away for a few years and when I finally found the beads they had been aging in this bottle for four years. They smell wonderful and I am sure they have some very good protective powers. I came up with the name "Incantaroma" because there is an incantation for protection and the dolls are wearing some of the aromatic beads. I love using color with my pieces because colors themselves have protective powers.

Fairy Friendly
I have been Fairy friendly for years and I just read about a type of fairy that I must have missed somewhere along the line. It is called a Sylphs, maybe the name is why it's just not as popular as some. This particular fairy or rather a Elemental of the air is the source of all life energy in the air around us. They cause tiny soft breezes and huge horrendous hurricanes and they are essential to our existence, so I have read. This being the inspiration for my newest creations of garden fairy nymphs that I am working on now. I like putting fairies on my crafts, my bags, my bracelets and my baskets. I therefore am fairy friendly except for those fairies that hide my purse, my keys and my shoes. For those fairies I have a little surprise to keep them in line at my etsy shop. Now those Sylphs, I will leave to others for I love the little sweet breezes and I'm not about to anger something that can blow a Hurricane or Tornado my way...been there done that.Fairy Friendly Denim Jean Purse Bag with Beads by mystic2awesome

MARRY ME
"MARRY ME" two little words that forever changes a "ME" into "US". The ring is a symbol of the Love that you will nurture and hold to your heart. Or for the guys out there what better way to present a ring to your one and only. And if you already have a jewelry box full of rings, what better way to display your rings and bracelets than a velveteen ring holder pillow. As a celebration of our first home I planted a tree on my first anniversary in my new house, or rather I planted a twig. My husband thought I was crazy of course. As our married life together grew I could watch the tree grow.
I had my husband drive me around town until I saw the perfect Weeping Willow tree. I took a willow twig or small "switch" which is what my grandmother called them. I put the twig switch in a plastic cola bottle half full of water in the fall and keep it in your house. By spring the twig switch will have sprouted roots and you plant it.
I took two such twig switches one for my husband and one for me and them braided them together and then planted them. The tree will be stronger when two are wound together and will form an interesting tree because of the braiding. You can watch the two grow and become one tree, stronger because of the two who are now one.
